Dedra Grizzard is reminded all the time about her late husband.

She often overhears a few strangers in a crowd telling a Lewis Grizzard story. Even more write her asking for copies of newspaper columns to frame or put in their will.

The widow still keeps a Grizzard book within reach of her bed.

“I always have a book next to my bedside,” she said.

“I pick up the book and he still speaks to me through his work.”

Now, Grizzard hopes a new generation will become as appreciative of the famed Georgia writer, columnist and humorist’s work as she is. After a dozen-year hiatus, a few of Grizzard’s most famous titles are being published again by NewSouth Books. A few more are now available in electronic form.
