Personal life
A native of Jetmore, Kansas, Ochs was born in and took her first college class from Fort Hays State University in , when the university was called the Kansas State College.[3][4][5] Nola and her husband Vernon Ochs raised four sons (who have given her 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren) on the family farm.[6][4] She took college courses again part time from Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas, after her husband of 39 years died in and eventually came within 30 credits of a bachelor's degree.[6][3][4][5] In , Nola moved miles from the family farm Nola Ochs biography.
